Faith in God...

WE must understand that even though we are awesome, capable, and strong people our faith/trust/confidence cannot be in ourselves.  In other words, we must make sure all of our trust and confidence is in God.

             I.    “Faith in faith” will mess you up! But we need to have “faith in God!”
                               a.    The word of God is the supreme prophetic voice!
                               b.    If he said it in his word, you can have it in your life
II.    Satan tries to fight your remembrance of God’s work in your life
                               a.    He does this through religious self-righteousness
                                       i.    You did not save yourself! Your salvation comes from God!
                                                     1.    Not the Pastor
                                                     2.    Not the church
                                                     3.    Not the choir
                                                     4.    Not the music
                                                     5.    Not the denomination
                                                     6.    BUT THE WORD OF GOD GAVE YOU WHAT YOU NEEDED
III.    I have to learn to see my Victory in the word
                               a.    Once I have studied the word of God and put it in context
                                      i.    If there is an applicable promise… I can have it!
ii.    If He said it… He’s going to do it
                                     iii.    I don’t have to fight for it… It’s already mine…

                 No WORD, NO VICTORY...    ...   ...   ...   ....   ...   .... KNOW WORD, KNOW VICTORY

Don't forget to remember

Deuteronomy 4:7- 10

There comes a time In Your life as a Christian where you should not need to be encouraged to praise God...

  •  You can't allow life's trials to cause you to forget what God has done for you! Every now and then you need to rehearse where God has brought you from
    • This is important because it is these trials that really strengthen your relationship with God...
    • even when in a romantic relationship before you actually go through something together you really "think" you're in love
  • When you are initially in a relationship with someone you feel attracted to them but its mostly physical or intellectual whatever floats your boat
    • You smile and y'all have what's called puppy love
    • That's because the love hasn't  yet been tested
  • A good trial will make or break your relationship with anyone
    • It's during the trial that you find out what the other party is made of
      • they have the chance to man up or wimp out
      • they have the opportunity to woman up or whine like a little girl
    • During the trial you find out who has your back
    • The trial separates friends from the phonies
  • But when see you got a real one!!! You have a true jewel and develop true love for them
    • If you think you love someone now wait until you've been to hell and back and they are still there
    •  Wait until they know about know everything about you and still cool with you
  •  Here in our main text Moses is telling the children of Israel not to forget what God has done for them
    • He tells them this after they had recently got the victory over King Og and the Amorites
      • This is interesting because history has king Og being tall the bible inAmos 2:9 it's says It's clear he was tall...
      • Even though he was tall God still through battle gave him and his country into Israel's
  • Moses is standing in front of the children of Israel and begins to say
    • Don't forget what you've been through and who brought you through!!
      •  He was there when they left!
      • He wiped your tears when it was your fault you were crying
      •  He paid your bills when you're the reason you were broke
      • He was there while you was getting back on your feet
      •  He shut the mouth of your enemies with success
    •  GOD DID IT!!!

We can't be embarrassed of our scars because they say I should be dead and gone but God spared my life...  We need to be ever mindful of the fact that God has brought us through...

Get those hands up in the air

Text: Exodus 17:8-13

  • In the context of our scriptural reading we see that the Israelites are recently freed from Egypt some put the length of time at just over a month.
  • this being the case they haven’t really had time to develop an army or a defense system just yet as of now they are just moving by
  • When you study this historically you find out that God has real problem with the Amalekites not just because they attacked Israel but because they did so from behind (Deut. 25:17-18)
  •  They attacked and when you read it Moses and Joshua couldn't respond to it adequately until the next day and when they did respond they found that they were only able to be victorious as long as their leader had his hands up in the
    • When he would drop his hands they would lose
    • But when he put those hands in the air they won

I just want to give you two (2) reasons why you need to keep your hands in the air while fighting for your life.

  1. When you lift your hand it signifies (in our times) surrendering one’s position or one’s self to the authority of another!
    1.  I remember when I was a young boy I would watch on TV the cops would tell the robbers to come out with their hands up…
      1. This was a sign of surrendering to the authority of the cop
    2. The scripture says submit/ surrender yourself therefore unto God THEN resist the devil and he will flee
      1.  But he doesn't flee until you submit
        1.  Sometimes it’s not about  Lying, sex, money, friends
        2.  Sometimes you need to submit and…
          1.  get married; or
          2.  start your business; or
          3.  start preaching; or
          4.  stop being messy etc
        3.  If you don’t submit he won’t FLEE!! And it’s not always the obvious things we need to submit…
  2. Lastly, The lifting of the hand’s signify that you have the victory In our text it was the lifting of the Man of God’s hand that provoked victory
    1.  This I believe is why Satan fights expressive praise
      1.  Because in biblical history some of the greatest victories happened when the people of God Praise God emotionally.
      2.  Praise provokes confidence in God… It is in your praise that you remind yourself how great our God is
      3. One of the last things he (Satan) wants you to do is get down in your spirit that you have the VICTORY

WHEN YOU GET WINNING IN  YOUR SPIRIT DEFEAT IS ELIMINATED!   As a man thinketh in his heart so is he. You have to allow victory to get so down in you until it becomes your vary being. No matter what if God is on my side I can do it. I can make it! I am More than a conquer! I am the head and the not the tail! I am above and not beneath! I am the victor and not the victim! I will not fight this battle depressed but rather I am going to lift my hands! I am ready for my next level! I am ready for my new job!  I am ready for my new relationship! I am ready for my new ministry! I am ready to do MORE FOR JESUS! I am ready to win a soul! I am ready for VICTORY! So Get those hands up!!

Overcoming Defeat

1 Samuel 30:1-6

This is during David’s exile from Israel

History: David had gone through a lot up to this point. Even in his exile David experienced some victories and some defeats.

Intro: Now we have to realize that in life we will win some and we will lose some.  Yes as a saint of God there will be times where you Lose some things.   You have to learn that the LORD GIVETH and the LORD TAKETH AWAY that’s a part of life

1.   Just because you loose doesn’t mean that God has rejected you

a.  The reason why I personally love this text is because everyone considers David’s Victories but besides Bathsheba we really don’t mention his failures  or his defeats much

b.  Here we see he has a relationship with God But he still looses

c.    This lets me know that serve God and sometimes end up

                                                              i.    Divorced

                                                             ii.      In jail

                                                            iii.      Broke & Confused

                                                           iv.      Attempting suicide

                                                             v.      Single Parenting

vi.      Back where you started from

2.       Don’t turn your failure / Defeat into a monument

                                                            i.    Monument is a statue, building or other structure

erected to commemorate a famous person or event

b.      I know it’s easy to be hurt and use that as an exuse for ridiculous behavior

                                                               i.      Stop talking about it!

ii.      Sometimes you need to fast the past

1.    Don’t talk about it

2.       Don’t’ listen to no one else talking about it

3.       There are some truths about yourself you don’t need ever reveal

a.       God told Jeremiah the prophet that NOT to say that he was a youth

b.      Don’t lie just stop volunteering information regarding your situation to everyone

Once you really decide to get up … you need to pray and go get your stuff

Let Your Light Shine

Initially, a person would evaluate this text and find that the focus is to challenge everyone to be kind to all and do only good. However, I would like to draw your attention to the natural progression of the text. Indulge me if you will. His message reads as follows”

  • “Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

  • Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

  • Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

  • Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

  • Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

  • Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

  • Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

  • Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

  • Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.”

I believe that when we look at this we can see at the beginning Jesus is preparing His followers for real life. If you break this down, you will see that there are times as a believer when you will feel:

  • Poor in Spirit. As you look at the poor, they often times have to do things that many others have too much pride for. There is NO room for pride in a Christian's life. We must always remain broken before the LORD and in turn, we are blessed for it.

  • You will mourn. I don't care how much you pray, there will be things in life you will lose. Many times it is at that point that Christ will meet you! It is in times of great loss that many of us have felt the undeniable power of God. He has comforted us.

  • You need to be meek. You need to be at peace with the will of God for your life.

  • If you're really “bout that Christ life” you're going to have to hunger and thirst for God. This is for those who understand the absolute need for Christ in their lives.

  • If you show mercy, you get mercy.

  • The pure in heart shall see God. Every now and then we have to evaluate our intentions to make sure we are doing things for the right reasons.

Then, in Matthew’s account of the Gospel there is a slight turn. Everything up until this point involves you controlling yourself. But at this point it seems to me that He's challenging the believer to control not just themselves but now to exert control over their situations.

  • Blessed are the peacemakers.

Then he starts to give the believer, who walks in authority, a dose of reality; and that is when you stand for Christ, folk aren’t going to like you. He says they are going to revile you and lie on you.

Then he says

  • but you are the salt of the Earth. He's now describing a fight.

  • I know salt preserves meat but in preserving meat it is fighting against the elements that exist to spoil the meat.

He then says

  • you are the light, don't hide your light let it shine! There is a fight between Light and darkness. Every time you turn on a light you literately chase darkens out of the room or area.

  • There is the simple fact that darkness and light cannot exist in the same space, at the same time. He's says when your light shines people will see your good works and glorify your father in heaven.

Your good works shouldn't all be hidden and won't always be received by everyone as good because we cannot ignore the fact that we are yet at war with Satan. Sometimes the darkness that you are repelling seems to society as acceptable or tolerable. However, we as Christians need to not be hateful but stand in the truth. As a Christian you can't go with the fads that everyone else go through; we must dare to be different! Satan has the world so fooled into thinking wrong is right and right is wrong. WE CANNOT FALL FOR IT. God is calling for those who will stand and be the light that wars against any and all kinds of darkness. This is why God is using and anointing a new breed of ministers. Men and Women of God who are not worried about getting the key to the city but want to use the keys of the kingdom. Women and Men that don't care if you like them. That say right is right & wrong is wrong. That stand on God’s word for truth and not tradition. That are going to let their light shine.

Standing in your Freedom

St John 8:32; 36

32: And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

36: If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

The key to your freedom is the TRUTH (St. John 14:6)

6: Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes

unto the Father, but by me.

This is important as it relates to us being able to enjoy the new life the Christ has given us. The freedom that we enjoy as children of God is directly connected to us knowing who Christ is! We must not let people intimidate us into feeling as though we are not saved.

Now that we know this truth we NOW free COMPLETELY and totally.  We no longer have to live to impress anyone, any church, any pastor bishop. You truly understand the statement I satisfied with Jesus Christ alone!

Once you have been free now you can spread the Love of Christ without inhibition. You can show love to everyone as Christ did and still be confident that it has not baring on your relationship with Christ, you standing with his word, you anointing etc.

Free people are a better representative of who Christ is!

Christ loved everyone while walking the Earth even going as far as to minister to a prostitute (Not sleep with her but minister to her)!

Someone has to say JESUS SEND ME I'M FREE ENOUGH TO GO!!

Galatians 5:1

1:  Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be

not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

The Truth Makes us free; Christ is the Truth and now we see that in order for us to enjoy the freedom we have to take authority and just walk in it!!   you don't need permission from ANYONE just "I'm going to follow Christ and not allow anything or any one to hinder the Love of God from flowing from me"

As a true saint of God (Christian) we must know that this freedom is over every area of our lives. Financially, Romantically, free to pursue our dreams, free to forgive, free to get over hurt, free to re-invent myself for the better, free from past rumors and lies/ former truths,

                            We ARE FREE

I'm fighting to win! pt1

Ephesians 6:12

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

To many times we as Christian win the fight but on the wrong front...   If we read the bible and actually practice what it says in our society I believe things would change.

  • I must be clear! The rules in the bible don't apply to those who don't walk with Christ therefor we cannot levy the responsibility to act as Christ would on them

After reading this it is clear to me that we may have find our selves in situations where it may feel good to fight in an in appropriate manner (I.e. scrappin, throwing down, shooting the fair ones, catching a fade) however, when we as Christians realize that there is a situation that perpetuates confusion we know that God is not a part of it.

1 Cor 14:33 lets us know that God is not the author of confusion there for I know when certain things take place there is another spirit at work

  • this is not to say that every time that we have a disagreement  that it is  demonic... yet we know there are situations where a mole hill has now turned into Mount Everest, or where there is no reasonable solution in sight... and the results will be catastrophic if something isn't done
  • as stated Earlier it is easy to try to solve it by fighting or cussing or any other type of ignorance but we find these are tools that will make matters worst

It is at this time where you must check your emotions and become spiritually strategic...

                                   Not manipulative but spiritually strategic

2 Corinthians 10:4 our weapons are not carnal but might through God!

I believe that since Christ left us with his peace He has given us the tools to maintain the peace but we must be disciplined enough to do what you need to to keep it!!

  • You must become like a specialist... Able to defeat Satan and cause as little up roar as possible
    • I've had my share of life altering situations and I came the conclusion that I need to be able to deal with opostions without having to rebuild every time the leave...  other wise you'll spend most of your life rebuilding and never expanding
    • they had to be as discreet as possible when  they went to get Osama Bin Laden

-some of us can fight the devil but we cause so much craziness in the process it's really unproductive

-sometime it's not can you do it but can you do it with out tearing everything up

-use this in every area of you life some times you have all the skill and no tact...

-everyone knows everything you are going through and what you are doing

                                      - so you unknowingly cause casualties and somethings can be handle with 100% containment

    • Lastly, you must discern  between what God has put on you and what you put on you
                   -  he will never put more on you then you can bear... So before I even entertain you I
need to know is this a God deal or a me just reaching out
                  - because if it's God I can handle it...
-if you didn't ask for it and God put it in your lap then there ain't no way I can't handle it
                          it's not to heavy,
                          it's not to hard
                           it's not going to end

So the next time you find yourself in a situation where you know the enemy is at work remember not to fight the person. Remember to exercise the authority that God has given you and attack the Spirit not the person.

That means there is purpose in your problem

                           - I know it was a mistake to lay in the bed but the baby had purpose therefore
                            I can handle it

                           - I know there are some crazy lies out about you by your best friend but you can over come them

                           - I know you may have cussed out last week but this week you gonna pray for them cause you realize it's spiritual

                           - I know the divorce is sticky but you shall live and not die

-I know I shouldn't have been on drugs but there is purpose in my testimony

the enemy only wants you focused on the problem!!! but I've moved on! God has forgiven me and while on my way to fulfill the purpose he has for me I plan to do it with as little glitches as possible
